where are you going??

hi- ho, hi-ho, it's off to school we go...

Well, not technically we, but Griff headed off to his first day of school this morning...

a NEW school.

without mom OR nan.

new backpack, new binder, new pencils, new shoes, new lunchbox, new shirt, new shorts.

new.new.new.

*sigh*

I'm not having heart palpatations or a panic attack. I didn't cry. I barely even asked for a hug or kiss, until the other mom and dad waiting with their kids asked for goodbye hugs and such. Part of me is wanting to keep busy all day long so i don't have to *think* about it.

This is the beginning of the end, isn't it?

10 years old. Fifth grade. One step closer to not being my boy anymore. This sucks.

Off he goes... and Belle was there to see him off.

She had been so excited to see all the people at the bus stop...

When the bus came and I was *trying* to discretely snap a photo (Griff granted permission to bring the camera :)... Belle got all kinds of confused.

Apparently she didn't remember the bus routine from back in June.

She just stood there, watching the kids board the bus. Once they pulled away, she continued to watch the bus roll down the road. Then she started pulling on her leash and crying... trying to follow the bus. She wanted NO part in going home. WHAT was that giant yellow car, and WHY was it taking her brother away??

I dragged walked the girla home and gave her a treat. She paced the house and barked a bit.

Finally she sat at my feet and heaved a big sigh, looking right up at me with those puppy girl eyes... the ones that are sad and pleading and melt your heart.

We had a little conversation about the whole incedent. It went something like this...

Belle: "Where is brother?"

Mama: "Brother had to go to school, girla."

Belle: "That sucks."

Mama: "I know, girla, I know."
