look what i can do!

I have been d.y.i.n.g. to own these for weeks now, but my i-work-two-jobs budget won't allow me to purchase them :(

 

Seriously. Cashmere. I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed them. I'm sure Steph could whip them up in an afternoon with her ability to actually read a pattern, but me... notsomuch.

So this afternoon I decided to try my hand at crafting a similar pair. By "similar", I mean crochet two sleeve-like devices that could loosely be interpreted for the real thing.

This is what I came up with (please excuse the crappy manicure):

 

Now, I know I used acrylic yarn instead of cashmere, and I was totally using a crochet hook that was all chewed up on the end from last year when the girl-dog got to it, but all in all I think I was pretty successfull for my first attempt. Next time around I plan on using a more delicate fiber and a smaller crochet hook, and we'll be in business. Who knows... maybe some will wind up in the etsy shop?

For now, I am going to fold the last load of laundry and check on my delicious smelling Kale Soup... anybody want to come over for dinner?
