the face of a killer

 

A cold-blooded killer lives in my house.

I never even suspected it. We all thought she was so sweet and innocent. Even here, in her mug shot, she's looking all pitiful and "how could you even think I would be capable of such a thing?".

But it's true. Don't let that adorable exterior fool you.

MY DOG KILLED THE BABY BUNNY THAT LIVE(D) IN OUR BACK YARD!!!!

((shudder))

The cute, tiny, defenseless little bunny that liked to sit in the clover patch outside the bathroom window in the evenings. Probably the offspring of the big bunny that lives under the shed. Now that poor mama bunny will be sitting, waiting for her little babe to come back to the den. But alas, it will never return.

BECAUSE MY EVIL DOG KILLED IT LAST NIGHT.

I heard her barking in the abck yard for a minute or two, not her typical bark. Finally I hefted my pregnant butt off the couch to call her inside so as not to cause a ruckus and disturb the neighbors. I called her several times, and nothing. I offered her a treat (which ALWAYS makes her come runnign)... and nothing. Finally Bobio called her in his beg, deep, papa-voice. She ambled around the side of the pool and trotted into the house.

Thats when I noticed the evidence of her crime.

A single red streak over her right brow.

I immediately sent Bob out to inspect the scene. The dog stood "innocently" by my side on the deck, tail between her legs. Bob made his way around the pool and stopped, dropping his head. There, in the grass, was the poor baby bunny. It was clearly departed, a relief that we wouldn't have to take any further action.

We immediately put the suspect into lock-up (her crate). She was tried and sentenced on the scene, as there was PLENTY of evidence against her. She was confined to her crate for an hour, and banned from any sort of affection for an undetermined length of time. She was also subject to several verbal lashing by both her mama and papa.

Now, we mourn.

We mourn the loss of the cute little bunny, and the innocence of the beloved family pet we *thought* we knew.
