Yesterday I was fortunate enough to celebrate the impending birth of our babe with a great group of friends and family. We ate delicious food, played fun games, and ooh-ed and ahh-ed over cute little baby things.
...And Miss Avery Maria kept everyone *quite* entertained with her antics :)
I was actually really anxious about attending the get together, because even though it seems I relish the limelight and being the center of attention, it really just makes me feel extremely awkward. I feel the need to entertain, to say the right things, to take control of the situation.
The guest list for the shower was really fairly small, and for that I was partly thankful... partly wondering if I would be judged for not having the oodles of guests that others might have had attend their events.
Why do I worry about these things???!!!
While there certainly a few faces that I missed at the party, the people who were able to attend made me feel special and loved. That is all that matters.
By the time we got home, Bob had already unpacked a car load of goodies and we filled the fridge with left-overs. We set out to remove packaging and tags and prepared to do multiple loads of itty-bitty laundry in the coming days. I wrote out thank-you cards (now if I could just find the stamps to mail them...). We snuggled on the couch and watched Iron Chef then went to bed.
It was a good day.
I am a lucky girl.
