Welcome to the very FIRST Hard Core Crop! We are so excited that you joined us.
Each Design Team Member, plus a few guest designers, will be hosting challenges
on their blogs and giving away a pack of Core’dinations Cardstock. For full Crop
details please see the Core Blog here! Interested in a Guest Designer spot?! Learn how you could design for Core for the next three months here!
My challenge to you is to create your own handmade embellishment using our fabulous Core papers. On this layout, I created the *sweet* cupcake to support the theme of my photos.
With just a few tools and techniques, I'll show you how to recreate this neat treat.
Run a piece of Vintage cardstock through a paper crimper to achieve a corrugated texture. Don't have a paper crimper? Score and fold the paper in a similar fashion to mimic the look of a cupcake liner.
Use a decorative border punch along one edge of your crimped paper. Carefully sand the paper to reveal the lighter color core of the cardstock.
Trim the paper to 2" wide. Fold the paper several times to resemble the bottom of a cupcake. Use a bit of adhesive on a scrap of cardstock and adhere to the back of the paper to secure the folds in place.
On the back side of a piece of Core Impressions cardstock, draw a cloud type shape that is the length of the upper edge of the cupcake liner. Trim the shape, sand, and adhere to the bottom of the cupcake.
I then mounted the assembled cupcake onto an additional piece of Vintage Collection cardstock to both coordinate with the rest of the color scheme of the layout and also to give a little more definition.
Cut a small cherry shape and use a pece of twine to create a stem, then adhere to the top of the cupcake. There you have it!!
Add a title banner and Washi tape flag, and you have yourself a perfectly coordinated embellishment to accentuate your layout.
The possibilities are endless when it comes to creating your own accent tiems... I can't wait to see what you come up with!!
Now, up for grabs to the winner of this challencg is a pack of my FAVORITE paper to work with, the Vintage Collection! Look around for inspiration and whip up some embellishments for your chance to win! Banners, die cuts, flowers, journaling tags... the possibilities are endless!
Don't forget to get check out the chatter over on Facebook at our Crop Event here!

I like using the crimper to make the cupcake. Here is my card using a banner punch to make the sun.
