I am the lucky mama of two super-cute girls and one pretty handsome boy (who doesn't like to have his picture taken). I know that Griffin will always love his sisters, and they will always love him. There is a pretty significant age difference between Griff and the ladies, so there is never any competition, no rivalry, no fighting for affection. His needs are different than theirs. He needs sleep, food, and for mom to stop nagging about cleaning his room and doing his laundry. They need, well, everything.
These girls of mine love each other very much. They run and play and chase and giggle and jump on each other and hold hands and share snacks. They wash each other up in the bath and brush each others' teeth. It is pretty heartwarming to watch :)

Maya and Sadie also love irritate each other. Well, Sadie loves to irritate Maya. Maya loves to keep things away from Sadie. The little one pulls the big one's hair. The little one steals the big one's toys. The little one sits too close to the big one on the couch. The little one swipes the apple out of the big one's hands. The little one yells, jumps, throws and generally gets on the nerves of the big one.
I know these girls will have a great sisterhood. I know they will love each other, and hate each other. I know they will want to do everything together, and also need their space. I know it will not be easy as a parent to make the right choices as to how best their relationship should be handled during the tough times. I know there will ne times that I just want to bury my head in the sand like an ostrich and pretend that I can't see what is going on.
But I am so in love with the sweetness right now. I am in love with the exuberant smiles and laughter and running with wild abandon across the back yard hand in hand. While it is easy to worry the future into existance, I need to remind myself that I need to live in the present and appreciate the easy times while I can.
Sweet :) It is hard not to want to bury your head in the sand, especially when they are fighting. But it is great that you see the good first!
