Welcome to the 2nd Hard Core Crop! We are bringing in the Holiday season with challenges designed to get you inspired to create for the Holidays. Please head over to the Core blog for crop rules. And we have the Facebook HCC crop page here for you to chat and hang out with fellow Hard Core Croppers so make sure you head over there, too. You never know when challenges or giveaways will pop up over there!
I have created a super quick and easy home decor project that would be perfect for
gifting to a neighbor, teacher, or your favorite coworker.
Begin by using glue dots to adhere approximately 3 dozen candycanes around the outside of a mason jar. You could also save a well scrubbed glass jar from your recycling bin
(pickle, mayonnaise, pasta sauce...) to make the project even more affordable.
Use a wide piece of May Arts ribbon to wrap around the candycanes and tie in a tight
knot, trimming the ends as close to the knot as possible.
I created the decorative "joy" lable by die cutting a piece of black Glitter Silk and a piece
of Jenni Bowlin Core Impressions using a Spellbinders die cut template and
mounting them together with foam squares. I hand cut small holly leaves by
folding a dark green piece of Core Essentials in half and free handing an
inverted scallop shape. Unfold the paper and sand to give texture and dimension
to the leaves before adhering to the center of the label. Embellish with bakers
twine and alphabet stickers. I filled the jar with holly and evergreen clippings
from my yard to complete the festive display. The entire project cost me less
than $3 out of pocket for the candycanes, as I had all the other materials on
hand!
My challenge for you is to use items you have on hand to create a home decor or gift item. Be creative!! Let me see repurposed jars, packaging, ornaments... the possibilities are endless.
What do you have the chance to win by aprticipating in my challenge?? TWO packs of our Cut & Emboss series (Packs will vary due to availability) AND some amazing May Arts ribbon!!
Love it. You can never have too much glitter.

... I didn't use my coffee jars after all. I had a really nice shaped brown glass vitamin jar that won the vase makeover this time.
Thank you for the inspiration - my MIL is sick and this project will help cheer her up when we visit tomorrow :)

THANK YOU for choosing me as the winner of your challenge Melissa!!!
I had heaps of FUN completing your challenge (along with many others from the crop) with the added bonus of now having the pleasure of keeping my "vase" filled with fresh flowers and seeing it out on display every time we visit my Mother-In-Law's, which is several times a day for her care, meals etc => THANK YOU :)
Now I am excited at the thought of creating more new projects with my prize :)
